What is Wellness?
Health is on a continuum. Some people have flourishing health and some people have poor health. Throughout our lifetimes, we fluctuate between the two. We have choices to make about how to improve our health and create wellness for ourselves. Often, people are not healthy enough to make healthy choices. If everyone was healthy and made healthy choices, many companies in the food industry that would be out of business. Do you want fries with your wellness? Well, maybe some organic, cooked in good oil or baked in the oven fries, please.
How can I get wellness? Start with the F-word, FUNCTION! You want your nerve system to be functioning optimally. Then, it is up to you to nourish your body and soul with real food, healthy relationships, time in nature, thinking, learning, and growing.
Wellness is defined as a condition of good physical and mental health. Of course, health is more than just physical and mental, but also includes the spiritual or meta-physical. So, really, wellness is that continual striving for harmony in all of the slices of the health pie below.
